May Easter Blessings Fill Your Household!

Jesus Christ has risen as He said. Alleluia!  From the Dominican Friars and the staff of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude, the warmest of Easter greetings to you and your family!  You are in our prayers. Please continue to pray with St. Jude for those who are yet at the edge of despair.

January Novena breaks new ground!

Wednesday, January 16 marks a new innovation in the life of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude.  We will be holding this January novena at another Dominican church, St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest, IL.  This is an experiment.  We will return to St. Pius Church (home of the Shrine itself) for the March novena (March 5-13).

The decision to try a different venue came after hearing complaints about heating (during the coldest time of the year in an old church), parking (made worse in snowy weather), and handicap accessibility (there are fewer steps at St. Vincent to ice over).  St. Vincent´s is a gorgeous Gothic church that has lots of room for pilgrims.

Moreover, we will be bringing some young, new blood into the Novena.  Two of our zealous seminarians will be offering their reflections at the Masses of the Novena.  It is great how the devotion to St. Jude is rising in popularity with our younger Catholics!

So, please join us if you can for this new endeavor of the Shrine.  If you can´t be there in person, join with us at prayer each day of the novena (January 16-24).  Again, you can listen to the readings and reflections each day at: http://shrineofsaintjude.com/htdocs/prayer_life/audioArchive.php

Gracie´s daughter needs your prayers

Gracie, who many of you know as the person who works in our online gift shop, has encountered another burden in her life.  Just a month ago, she lost her father just as a grand-daughter was being born.  Well, now her youngest daughter, Destiny, was diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing chemotherapy.  She is only 6 years old and is having a hard time with all the medications.  Please keep Destiny and her mother in your prayers, along with all children and their families who have to deal with the burdens of cancer at such a tender age.
